Year 6 step back in time
On Monday Year 6 visited Gunnersbury Museum to experience a World War II workshop. We learnt about daily life in the war: rationing; how to put out fires and bombs; how to wear a gas mark and how to grow our own vegetables and fruits to help feed the country. We also explored inside an Anderson Shelter and learnt about individuals from the local area who helped in the War.
The children also received a private tour of the Museum and asked lots of interesting questions about Gunnersbury and its history. We were able to link not only to our Topic but also learning from previous years and Black History Month, as well as have some fun trying on costumes!
It was a fascinating trip and the children were incredibly enthusiastic. It was a lovely day and great to be able to be back doing local trips again!
