Good roots run deep

Last Thursday, a group of Year 1 children visited the garden at St Paul's Church in Brentford.  They learnt about all the plants growing there.  They smelt rosemary and oregano and decided that these herbs would taste good on pizza. They found some wild leek plants and saw a fig tree, a grape vine and a kiwi tree. They also saw some onions, garlic and strawberry plants growing in the soil.  The children drew a picture of a plant from observation and then a picture of the food it might become - 'from plant to plate.'
