This week 6KL have taken the next step in our Carnival mask project. First, we used clay to create a base mould for the mask, which wasn’t as easy as the children thought it would be. They had to be careful to indent the clay for the eyes and mouth as well as trying to curve the mask slightly so it fits around the shape.
The class then had great fun covering their clay moulds in papier-mache, adding lots of layers to try and make the mask stronger. They tried hard to keep the strips smaller to maintain their mask shape and are really looking forward to next week when we start painting and decorating.
We can’t wait to see our final Carnival mask designs!
