Good roots run deep

This week, years five and six have started their Maths and English groups. Our Maths lesson today involved a problem solving activity, in which the children were tasked with working out the cost of making sandwiches for a class. Each group was given a list of items and told how much item each would cost. The children then had to apply addition and multiplication skills to work out how much of each item would be needed, and how much each item would cost in total. 

The children all worked really cooperatively and it was great to hear the mathematical language used throughout the investigation.
