How far will the car travel?

Today, 2V explored friction.

We investigated how far a toy car would travel across a variety of different surfaces after it was released down a ramp. We used our improving measurement skills to record how far the car travelled across each surface.

We noticed that the cars did not travel far at all across the bumpy rocks, sand and “grass” and the car travelled MUCH further across the smooth surfaces.

We learned that this is because friction is a force that slows moving objects down. Smoother surfaces have less friction.

Do you think this was a “fair test?” Why/why not?
