Good roots run deep

Today we enjoyed an Art afternoon to launch our Victorian Week in school. The session began by learning about William Morris, an artist well-known in Victorian Britain. The children found out about his nature-inspired patterns and how these were often used to create beautiful fabrics, prints or wallpaper. They then had a go at creating their own sketches based on the natural world, with repeating patterns. Once finished, they began carefully using watercolours to add some finer details and bold colour. 

The enthusiasm and concentration was lovely to see and we now look forward to what else 'Victorian Week' brings.
