4L investigate conductors and insulators

As part of their science topic on Electricity 4L have been finding out whether different items and materials are conductors or insulators. They worked in pairs to set up a circuit with a bulb. They then connected an item, such as a fork, paperclip, paper, elastic band, cable tie, into the circuit to see if the electricity could travel through the item (conductor) and keep the bulb alight or if the item was an insulator and the bulb wouldn't light. They then moved around the classroom and tested other items. The children discovered that in this test all the items that were conductors were made of metal.
