Picnic in the Sunshine!
Year 1 have been learning about the seaside. They have looked at the different activities you can do at the beach and how these differ from the past.
Last week, the children have been looking at the different snacks you can get at the seaside. They got very excited about ice creams, fish and chips, rock candy and also sea food. As a class, we discussed how people often take picnics to the beach and the different fillings you can have in a sandwich.
Yesterday, the children had a go at preparing their own sandwiches. First, they took it in turns to cut up some tomatoes and cucumber and have a go at grating some cheese. Then each child followed instructions and prepared their own sandwiches, selecting two different fillings. As the sun was shining, we then went outside to enjoy our own picnic!
It was a wonderful afternoon and the children were very careful when using the kitchen tools. Well done 1S!
