Great to hear!

Today was our annual learning review morning. As part of their responsibilities for running the school, governors spent the morning investigating progress of an area from the school’s development plan.

Today it was pupils’ development in writing. They visited English lessons in Years 5 and 6 looking at how quality children’s literature is used to develop language and writing. They also delved into English books from Years 4 and 5 and were very impressed with the progress pupils are making over the year. They could see the enjoyment pupils have for the learning. A lot is expected of our children.  Not only must they master the grammar and spelling; their writing needs to be lively, imaginative and effectively structured to achieve a clear purpose.

This morning was also an opportunity for parents to talk to governors about what they think of the school. Here are some of the parents’ comments: -

“You get great support from the teachers. My child really likes drawing, loves the ‘Big Write’ and they get lots of support with their maths.”

“Like that this is a good school which is close by, it’s like a family, their children love coming to this school even when they may be a little upset.”

“I really support this school and would recommend it to others.”

“My child is happy, is at ease with other children.”

“There is nothing I don’t like, teachers are great with the pupils, my child loves coming to this school.”

“My child feels 100% safe and loves the school dinners.”

“Pleased that there are so many extra school clubs being offered this year.”

“Comments raised on questionnaires are followed up and acted upon.”

"My children always come back from school happy, they feel safe and settled here."

"The care that I feel the school gives is amazing, it really matters to me, that they know my child and she's looked after."

"Maths and science are his favourite, he really likes to learn now."

"It's good to get such a range of after school activities and music in school. I like the wide range they can do as well as the classroom teaching"

"I'd recommend the school to anyone, in fact the reason my child is in this school is because a friend recommended it to me "

“My child who is a junior pupil would like a bigger portion of school lunch. Do the juniors get the same sized meal as an infant pupil?”

“This school has really helped my child. They have special needs but they have learnt so much since joining the school last year. We came here because my friend recommended this school.”

These are just a few of the comments made today. There was some really positive feedback about the school and the staff, but more importantly how happy your children are being at our school.

Our parent governors are Tommy Norton and Suzanne Forbes. They are happy to speak with you on the school gate or by email on:-
