Books Books Books!
6L really enjoyed World Book Day this week- we started the day sharing our costumes in the whole school parade then returned to class where we admired each other's outfits. The costumes were fantastic- well done to the children for their efforts (and thank you to any parents who helped!).
Some of the morning was spent running a 'Book Tasting' where the children explored some of the less known books from the class library, reading them together and discussing them. The children were then able to open some 'mystery books' which Mrs Little bought for the library. There was a lot of excitement when reading the tags and ripping the paper open! (To make it feel more like a cafe, we also enjoyed some biscuits and squash as we shared the books!)
Later in the day we sampled an online lesson, made our own bookmarks from recycled wood and in the afternoon made 'stories in a bottle'. We repurposed water bottles to make images and models of our favourite books. It was very different and worked well- I was impressed by the effort many children put into their creations.
Overall we had a great day and have come away with lots of books we would now like to read!
