Extra curricular activities

The school runs a Breakfast and Aftercare club to support working parents. Breakfast club opens at 8:00 am and Aftercare runs until 5:45 pm. Sessions in both clubs can be booked through the school office. To book a place you will need to complete a registration form available from the school office.

In addition to these clubs, the school runs a number of extra-curricular clubs at the end of the school day. The clubs range from choir, Eco Club, reading and baking, chess ad Inventors Science to a range of sporting activities such as rounders, football and basketball dependent upon the time of year. A brochure of the clubs will be available form the school office at the beginning of term.

Chess Club

I started our chess club about 8 years ago as a way of giving back to this excellent school. We meet each week: there is a little coaching but most of the time we play. There is an annual chess champion competition for years 3 and 4, and years 5 and 6. We have been able to play against other schools and also against a top chess club.

In this time, I have been repeatedly pleased at how children are able to play this complicated game and show their talent, concentration and resilience—and how they have coped with winning and losing. Students at St Paul’s are a delight and there has been no greater reward for me than admiring their deep-thinking ability and inspiration.

Leslie Pringle.
