Year 6 prepare for Wimbledon!

Posted by Mrs Little on 17/07/21 at 01:46 PM

On Thursday the whole of Year 6 walked to Gunnersbury Park to visit Old Actonians Sports Club for some tennis coaching with Sports Hive. The two classes received separate coaching sessions but met for a picnic lunch partway through the day.

The children were eager to get started and enjoyed a large range of skills based activities, team games and then individual competitions. They learnt the importance of co-ordination and balance as well as exploring some of the different strokes in tennis.

I was incredibly impressed with how the children's confidence and skill grew within the session and it was fantastic to see them all trying their best. I definitely think we have some budding tennis players in Year 6!

If you would like to know more about the tennis coaching, including the Summer camps and drop-in sessions they offer for children, please see their website: www.sportshive.co.uk (Please note, this is an external website)

Finally, Year 6 would like to say a *huge* THANK YOU to the PTFA who kindly paid for the tennis coaching as part of their leavers' celebration. It was an opportunity many of the children have yet to experience and we ended the day with tired legs but smiling faces! Thank you.
