As part of our Art unit this half term, we have been exploring the ‘Cave Painter’s Toolkit' and learning which materials were used to create prehistoric cave art. This week we had a go at making our own natural paints using flour, water and various spices including paprika, turmeric and cinnamon. We experimented with how to make it lighter or darker and how it felt using a paintbrush to apply the paints to a charcoal animal outline. The children seemed to really enjoy mixing the unusual paints and discussing their texture and colour.
