What’s in our blood?

6KL have enjoyed learning about the Circulatory System during our Science lessons this half term. We have explored what our Circulatory System does; how diet, exercise and other factors can affect its efficiency and this week we learnt what exactly is in our blood.

We completed a brilliant experiment together where we ‘built’ our own blood. We used a variety of food items and colouring to represent the elements of our blood such as white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets, vitamins and minerals, nutrients and plasma. I was really pleased to see how enthused the children were during the experiment and how much knowledge they absorbed, even being able to recall what percentage of blood is made up of each substance.
