Pupil Premium trip to Hogarth’s House
On Thursday 10th March, 17 children in Year 1 visited Hogarth’s House in Chiswick. The children learnt that William Hogarth was an artist. They were shown a self-portrait of Hogarth and his pug dog, Trump.
Hogarth was also an engraver and a satirist. The children spotted lots of interesting details in his famous etching and engraving, ‘The Enraged Musician’.
Afterwards, the children got creative themselves. They used stamps of different textures to create some stamp print pictures. Next, they tried relief printing. They rolled paint onto boards with a roller and used a cotton bud to create an image. They then placed paper on top of the board and carefully removed their print. There were lots of cries of amazement and delight during this process.
We had a fantastic time - thank you so much to all the staff at Hogarth’s House!
