Today in our Topic lesson we began to create mosaics for display on the London Underground and the New York Subway.
We began our lesson by looking at images of public art, which is art that is not displayed in museums, and then used our knowledge of the two cities to create our own sketches. The children chose a variety of images for their designs including Big Ben, The Statue of Liberty and taxis.
We looked at how mosaics are made and began to create our own, cutting pieces of card into small squares and placing them carefully into position.
We will be continuing to work on our designs this week and are looking forward to seeing the finished artwork.
