Magic Porridge and Pumpkins

Posted by Mrs Riley on 21/10/22 at 09:49 AM

This week in Reception we have been reading the story 'The Magic Porridge Pot'. As part of our learning we carried out an experiment. We made magic porridge using vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. The children were fascinated by the mixture and were excited to see it foam up.

We have also been continuing our work on Autumn and Harvest and have been exploring pumpkins. We used hammers, scissors and golf tees to explore the pumpkin's skin and to reveal what was inside of a pumpkin. The children were had a brilliant time explaining what it felt like and what the seeds were like. They also enjoyed making pumpkin soup by squashing the flesh with the potato mashers.

Well done Reception for an excellent first half term!
