Eco Club Become Power Savers!

Posted by Mrs Little on 24/11/22 at 08:49 PM

The Eco Club met again this week, and it was fantastic to come back together. This week we focussed on the importance of reusing materials where possible to save on waste, and how we can repurpose everyday objects to make something useful or attractive. We have begun to turn milk cartons into bird feeders and will be working on them each week going forward. We are excited to see what they end up looking like!

We also spent some time learning about where electricity comes from, and how making small changes such as switching off lights when we leave a room, can greatly reduce the amount of power used. This in turn not only saves money, but also reduces pollution in the long term. We are working on eye-catching signs and reminders to go in each classroom around the school to encourage people to switch off and be power savers!

The Eco Warriors will also be monitoring where they see power being saved in school and we will be awarding classes 'points' and certificates for being environmentally friendly. The children are taking this role very seriously, which is brilliant! I can't wait for our next session.
