Drawing with Charcoal

2V learned about how to draw with charcoal. It can be quite tricky to use so we started by "getting to know" it. We made some different marks, experimenting with the effects we could make. We practised blending the charcoal with our fingers/paper towels and made different shades of grey. Once we did that, we went to create charcoal portraits of Florence Nightingale, who we have been learning all about this half term. We paid close attention to where we needed different shades of grey and did some careful blending. Check out our work! Miss Vanos is very impressed with our improving artistic skills! To create our portraits, we referenced Henry Hering's photograph (see photo at end of photo reel).
