Digging for treasure in the school garden

Yesterday, a group of Year 4 gardeners dug up some of the potatoes they have been growing in the school garden. They found lots of different sizes of potatoes. The children have enjoyed caring for the potatoes every week and watching the plants grow. They have also had great fun learning that gardening often means getting wet and muddy and discovering spiders, worms and woodlice.

The children now know a little bit about where their food comes from. The children took the potatoes home to their families to cook. Next week, we are hoping to dig up the rest of the potatoes, cook them and eat them.
