Chinese New Year in 3C

3C celebrated Chinese New Year. The children were given a play script for the Chinese New Year's story and every child had lines to say and a role to play that they really enjoyed. They also worked in groups to make a Chinese Dragon using cardboard boxes and paints, which they've used for Dragon dance.

Children have learnt that Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival, is the most important celebration observed in China, with cultural and historic significance. The New Year celebration is centred around removing the bad and the old, and welcoming the new and the good.

Learning about different cultural aspects offers new experiences for children. It also helps them realise that we're all humans, despite differences in how we look or dress, or what we eat or celebrate.
