Children’s Mental Health Week

We marked Children’s Mental Health Week in 6KL in a number of ways. We spent some time discussing the importance of self-care, and looking after our own mental and emotional health. The children were fantastic at offering each other advice and considering what they can do for themselves to make sure they feel okay.

Some of our morning talk times revolved around mental health, including listening to songs such as ‘The Champion’ by Carrie Underwood- we used this upbeat track to come up with a class acrostic poem of qualities to help us be our own mental health champions. We also enjoyed listening to ‘You will be found’ and talking about how we can support others.

As part of our main learning the children created either an ‘a to z’ of wellbeing or a blackout poem encouraging someone to look after their mental health and link to the week’s theme of ‘growing together’. I was really impressed and moved by what the children created.
