Bug Hotels in 2K
This half term, we have been learning about Living Things and their Habitats. Over the past few weeks we focused on microhabitats which are very specific, small home environments for plants, animals and insects. We looked around school and found some examples of microhabitats such as under a plant pot, under the window ledges and in piles of leaf litter. We learned about the importance of insects and thought about the types of insects we would like to attract. After that, we used old milk bottles and rolled up newspaper to make our own bug hotels.
The children are really excited to see which insects they can attract to live in their bug hotels. If you would like to share photographs of where you put your bug hotel, or of what insects you attract, please upload these to your child’s Google Classroom. You can find advice on where to put your bug hotel on the RHS website.
