In our RE lesson today, we continued with our theme of light. The children were then presented with the question, how and why do artists use the symbol of light in their religious paintings? We looked at a variety of religious paintings and the children were asked to identify where the light is the brightest in the painting? We then looked at the nativity scene and we discussed how the artists use light to draw the person to the focal point of the painting. The children were then encouraged to draw their own nativity scene, using oil pastels. The children were asked to paint the ‘light’ in their painting to show holiness/ the Light of God.
