2B investigate germs!

In our science lesson yesterday, the children were encouraged to think about keeping clean and what it means to be hygienic. The children thought about all the ways that can help to keep their body clean, for example brushing their teeth and having a bath or shower. We then investigated germs. The first activity we had to do was to predict how best to clean our hands. The options were: using just a tissue, washing hands with water or washing our hands with soap and water. Once the children had made their prediction, the children spread glitter on their hands as the glitter represented the germs. We then carried out the investigation to see how best to get rid of the glitter. First we used just a piece of paper towel. Then they washed their hands with just water. Finally they tried water and soap. The majority of the children predicted the outcome correct as we found that the best way to clean our hands is with soap and water.
